West Dorset MP Chris Loder has urged local community groups, particularly those associated with rail travel, engagement, education or environmental benefits, to apply for new funding announced under Great Western Railway’s Community Fund.

The scheme, run by the Weymouth to Bristol rail operator, seeks to support a number of community projects and address areas of social need.

Mr Loder said: “Across West Dorset we have an outstanding range of community projects that could make great use out of this fund. I warmly encourage as many bids as possible to this fund and wish every success to those who submit their bids before the deadline of Monday 27th June. Please get in touch with me so I can lend my support to them.”

Bids must show a link to the railway and address an area of social need or provide a community benefit. Schemes should reach completion by end of March 2023.
