BOAT owners across Dorset are being warned about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning.
A spokeswoman from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Rescue Service said: "Carbon monoxide alarms save lives, as it’s something you can’t see, hear, smell or taste.
"If you live or spend time on a boat, make sure you have working alarms fitted.
"The symptoms of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning are not always obvious, particularly during low-level exposure.
"A tension-type headache is the most common, and others include dizziness, feeling and being sick, tiredness and confusion, stomach pain, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing.
"These symptoms can be similar to those of food poisoning and flu but, unlike flu, CO poisoning doesn’t cause a high temperature."
