BRIDPORT manager Edgar Marcu believes he can take the Bees back to the Western League Premier Division this season.

Marcu has succeeded previous boss Rob Marquis and must rebuild after a disastrous 2021/22 campaign which saw Bridport take just four points from 36 games.

Marcu also has his sights set on FA Cup and FA Vase runs and reaffirmed his belief that both ambitious targets are achievable.

Speaking to chairman Adrian Scadding on Bridport’s YouTube channel, he said: “You attract what you believe in.

“If you don’t believe in something, you’re not going to make it. My belief, and it’s a real belief, is that Bridport will go back to the Western Premier League next season.

“If you really believe it, it will happen. Obviously, you have to pay the price every single time.

“If you want something you have to put your hand in your pocket and pay the price. If you want to be a professional football player? Pay the price.

“If you want to be a manager, pay the price, sacrifices.”

He added: “We have the FA Cup and FA Vase. I’m not going to hide the fact that the FA Cup is a massive, massive opportunity.

“I have a massive interest for the FA Cup and since I took the team I transmit that to the players.

“I have no doubt we will go back into the Western League because I really believe in this.

“I wouldn’t be here if I just wanted to blow a whistle somewhere and pretend in coaching. I came in here to get the objectives done.”
