AN EVENING of music will be held to honour the memory of a much-loved Weymouth man.

People are invited to come along to the Duke of Cornwall pub in St Edmund Street, Weymouth, on Sunday, May 22 from 7pm until late to remember Ivor Charles.

Ivor, who passed away aged 83, was a regular fixture around Weymouth harbourside on his boat and also became a familiar face on the big screen, appearing as an extra in films.

He had a love of dancing the night away in various Weymouth pubs, where women would form queues to dance the foxtrot with him.

Musician Finnian McGurk will perform during the evening.

The gathering will give local people a chance to pay tribute to Ivor as his funeral will be held in Yeovil, where he lived for the first half of his life.

Ivor's daughter Lorraine said: "This will be an evening of music to remember dad organised by some of the people of Weymouth.

"I think it is important that the people of Weymouth get to say goodbye, in dad's true style, dancing to live music by Finn and a glass can be raised."
