DORSET will host 117 Queen’s Platinum Jubilee street parties during the June long bank holiday weekend which will involve road closures.
The county is likely to have many more, taking place on private land, or parks and open spaces, not requiring a legal order to shut the street.
Dorset Council said when the deadline passed to make free street closure orders it had received 117 applications.
Said council chairman Cllr Val Pothecary: “Dorset Council has received 117 applications to close roads for street parties in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend. They span all four dates (2-5 June) and have come in from all parts of the Dorset Council area.
“It’s truly remarkable that so many people want to get together with their communities to celebrate this special event. As soon as all the applications have been processed, the full list of closures will be available on our website at roadworks and road closures - Dorset Council.”
