Hughes Unit Group Supporters (HUGS) are holding a talk and workshop today (Thursday) about mental health and its stigma amongst family, friends and the wider community.
It’s at 2pm at the Chapel in the Garden, Bridport.
A HUGS spokesman said: “Stigma can be associated with a change in someone’s circumstances such as mental health and the perceptions that society has.
“The role of the media can play an important part in portraying those suffering from mental health, both positive and negative. There will be discussions about the perceptions of mental health and how a change in mental health is only temporary.
“It is hoped that ideas to combat stigma surrounding mental health issues can be generated from the discussions. It will be led by the chairman of HUGS.”
Entry is free with refreshments provided. A voluntary donation to cover costs would be welcome, say the organisers.
