A RECEPTIONIST working at a hotel in Bridport who was shortlisted for a prestigious national accolade was pipped to the top spot.

Mum-of-one Tamsin Lyons, who works at The Bridge House, in East Street, was shortlisted for the Unsung Hero award at this year's eviivo Awards, which celebrates the best of British independent accommodation.

Ms Lyons, from Beaminster, was in the running to take home the silverware in the category at the award ceremony, but the award was given to Jules Murray at KVM Serviced Apartments, in Cambridgeshire.

Michele Fitzpatrick, CEO at eviivo, said: "We were overjoyed with the high standard and volume of entries we received for this year’s awards.
