FIRE chiefs in Dorset have urged residents thinking about having a bonfire to report it to fire control to help them build an idea of what could be a controlled burn.
The Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) says they often receive calls from people seeing a lot of smoke and by ensuring controlled blazes are reported they know what calls may just be about a bonfire.
A spokesperson for the DWFRS said: “If you’re intending to have a large bonfire, report it to fire control on 0306 799 0019.
“We often receive emergency calls from people who can see lots of smoke, and it helps us to know where this could be a controlled burn.”
