RESIDENTS across Dorset planning to go on holiday are being warned to use a secure safe for their valuables when they're away.
As summer approaches, people could be potentially targeted for thefts as they leave their homes to go on a 'staycation' or travel abroad.
Dorset Police has urged people travelling to use a secure safe, which could either be found in their accommodation, or to ask the front desk to secure it.
A spokesman from Dorset Police: "You’re away, lock it away.
"Keep your passport safe when you’re not using it.
"If your passport is lost or stolen, you should report it as soon as possible to HM Passport Office. This will help prevent anyone else using your passport or identity."
