A BRIDPORT supermarket is seeking permission to sell alcohol at its petrol station.

Morrisons is hoping to amend its current supermarket alcohol licence to include the fuel station at its West Bay Road superstore.

Licensing authority Dorset Council has received an application from WM Morrison Supermarkets Limited requesting permission for alcohol off-licence sales at the petrol station, to take effect as soon as possible.

The request, submitted by solicitors on behalf of the supermarket giant, calls for a full variation of Morrisons' premises licence to include the petrol filling station within the area in which alcohol may be sold.

They have said that all staff selling alcohol will receive suitable training and refresher training in relation to the proof of age 'Challenge 25' scheme, and that CCTV will be provided on the premises and kept in good working order.

Any representations (comments or objections) from the public or relevant authorities need to be received by April 12, 2022.
