A MAN has been sentenced after he admitted to breaking another person's phone and assaulting them in a town centre.
Hubert Jan Opaczewski, whose address was given as Rax Lane, Bridport, was charged with common assault and criminal damage.
The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced at Weymouth Magistrates Court on March 8.
The charges were in relation to an incident which occurred on October 9, 2021 on East Street in Bridport in which Opaczewski assaulted another person and destroyed their mobile phone which was valued at £220.
Opaczewski was sentenced to an 18-month conditional discharge and must pay compensation of £220 to the victim. He must also pay £85 towards court costs and a £22 victim surcharge.
