A DRIVING law around the use of mobile phones is changing this week and becoming stricter.
From March 25 it will be an offence to hold and use a mobile phone for any reason whilst behind the wheel – this includes texting, scrolling through social media and looking at a map.
The new law includes much more than the original offence of ‘interactive communication’ which included phone calls, sending messages and accessing the internet.
It is now being updated to keep up with technology as devices have become capable of performing more tasks such as playing music and taking photos and videos.
The penalty will remain the same - £200 fine and 6 points on your driving licence.
