A MAJOR Dorset road is set to close overnight for three nights this week while spring maintenance work is carried out.

The A35 Puddletown Bypass will be shut by National Highways on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week from 8pm until 6am the following morning.

The road will be closed between Stinsford to Bere Regis while repairs and cleaning work is carried out.

A spokesman for National Highways said: “We’re carrying out spring maintenance work, which includes gully cleaning, sweeping road marking and road stud work, repairs to minor carriageway defects and sign cleaning.

“The work is being carried out Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights, 8pm to 6am, and will be completed by 6am on the Saturday 26.”

An official diversion will be in place, travelling east from Dorchester, via the A352 until the Woolbridge Roundabout and then onto Tout Hill.

From there, drivers are signposted to continue onto Rye Hill, Southbrook and then Poole Hill until the Poole Hill roundabout where motorists will rejoin the A35.
