POLICE are reminding members of the public across Dorset to contact a helpline service when reporting a crime when wanting to remain completely anonymous.
People across Dorset can contact the Crimestoppers, an emergency helpline set up in 1988 in a bid to break the wall of silence that sometimes surrounds crime - a silence that criminals exploit in order to avoid justice.
A spokesman from Dorset Police said: "Crimestoppers is a charity that works with police forces throughout the UK to solve crime.
"Crime has affected everyone at some point in their lives in one way or another.
"It’s easy to feel that there's nothing you can do or to worry about the consequences if you do pass on information.
"When you contact Crimestoppers, your anonymity is 100 per cent guaranteed - whether you choose to contact the helpline, or use the simple anonymous online form. www.crimestoppers-uk.org."
