CHEERS - it's National Pub Week.

Times have been tough for pubs in our area - so when the chaps at CAMRA's Good Beer Guide got in touch with a list of the best - we jumped at the chance to celebrate the top-rated taverns of Dorset.

The 2022 Good Beer Guide, which surveys  4,500 pubs across the UK, is considered the definitive beer drinker’s guide to the very best pints and all-round experience.

But we know there are some brilliant boozers out there that did not make the cut - and we're keen to hear which pubs you think deserve to be included.

Let us know in the comments at the end of this story.

The Good Beer Guide's best pubs in Dorset DT postcodes:

Thousands of independent volunteers worked together to compile this year’s entries, helping to identify significant trends and themes locally and nationally.

Their 49th guide found the number of independent UK breweries has risen to 1,902 in 2021 from 1,816 in 2020 which is the highest number recorded in the guide since publication began in 1974.

Lyn MacKenzie, who runs The Belvedere on Weymouth's High West Street, said she is proud that her pub has been selected - and that the team's efforts are being recognised.

"I'm pleased that we are able to support so many independent brewers as a free house," she added.

The Ropemakers, in West Street, was recently selected as West Dorset CAMRA's Pub of the Year.

Licensees John and Geraldine Baker said: "This is a wonderful reward for us and our fantastic staff and loyal customers. We have just completed 14 years at The Ropemakers and still love it! We see the Ropemakers as very much a community pub, catering for coffee drinkers, diners, quizzers, music lovers, and of course real ale drinkers - we have been pleased to be in the Good Beer Guide for the last eight years."

Another winner was the George Inn at Reforne, Portland.

The best undiscovered pubs in Dorset

What do you think about the selection? Are there any pubs missed off the list?

We're sure there must be dozens - if not hundreds - of undiscovered local taverns in our area that deserve to be recognised.

Tell us about your favourite pub below and we'll make sure they get an honorary mention.

Printed copies of CAMRA's 2022 Good Beer Guide have sold out - but it is also available as an app on iOS and Android where people can search for pubs.
