A DORSET man received a road ban and a fine after being clocked driving at 124mph.

Joshua Stephen Honeysett, aged 23, of Chetnole Lodge, Melbury Sampford, was caught behind the wheel of blue Volkswagen travelling at 124mph along the A30 Babylon Hill dual carriageway, between Sherborne and Yeovil on August 18 last year.

Babylon Hill has a speed limit of 70mph.

Honeysett admitted driving the car and exceeding 70mph in a hearing at Weymouth Magistrates Court on February 8.

He must now pay a £500 fine, a surcharge of £50, and court costs of £110 - totalling £660.

Honeysett was also disqualified from driving for 28 days.

The defendant's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing the sentence.
