DORSET has been ranked the best county in England and Wales for honest and trustworthy employees, according to new research.

Stats uncovered from UK police data by StandOut CV, a company who provide a service to help job seekers, concluded only the financial district in the City of London placed better than Dorset, at 29, for the fewest employee thefts per 100,000 employees.

Overall there was a total on 138 employee thefts since 2019 in Dorset ranking it was the most trustworthy county when it comes to employee thefts.

This contrasts with Northamptonshire which recorded the highest total thefts at 106.2 per 100,000, a total of 479 since 2019.

Since 2019 18,784 incidents of employee theft have been reported to police forces in England, Northern Ireland, and Wales.

Jayne Harrison head of employment law at Richard Nelson LLP said: “It is likely that theft or other dishonesty would be referred to in an employer’s disciplinary procedure as gross misconduct.

“If an employee commits a criminal offence at work, then it is likely that the police would get involved as well, as there is nothing to stop an employer contacting the police if there has been a theft by an employee.”

Figures suggest since 2019 there has been nearly an average of 19 employee thefts reported to police every day nationally.
