POLICE across Dorset are warning about the dangers of driving whilst tired.
It comes following a notice to the public from Dorset Road Safe, which states fatigue is recorded as a factor in more than 1,500 injury collisions each year.
Police have compared being tired while driving to be as dangerous as drink driving.
A spokesman from Dorset Police said: "Mental and physical fatigue through working long hours, lack of rest and not eating properly, or getting de-hydrated could lead to a lapse in concentration.
"It can also lead to a reduced reaction time and poor decision making over safety critical issues.
"Fatigue is just as dangerous as drink driving and is recorded as a factor in over 1,500 injury collisions each year."
