FIRE crews in Dorset were called to a greenhouse that had caught alight in the west of the county earlier this afternoon.

Just after 1.15pm firefighters from Bridport and Beaminster attended a property near Bridport and managed to extinguish the blaze.

A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said: “Bridport and Beaminster Fire Station were both mobilised to a green house fire on the outskirts of Bridport.

“Crews used one hose reel jet, hay drags and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.

“The cause of the fire was due to an unattended incinerator which caught fire to the surrounding grass and spread to the wooden greenhouse.

“Always ensure any type of incinerator or fire is sighted well away from property and clear of any surrounding material that could potentially catch fire.”
