'THANK you!' - That's the message to the community from a Bridport couple who decorated their home with Christmas lights for a good cause.

Monica and Rob Teague have put up fantastic festive illuminations outside their home in Bradpole for several years to entertain families and also to support local causes.

For Christmas 2021 they invited TV star and local west Dorset resident Martin Clunes to turn on their Christmas lights.

As patron of Weldmar Hospicecare, the Doc Martin and Men Behaving Badly star was delighted to do the honours, knowing funds raised will be going to the end of life care charity.

Donations for Weldmar were invited via a collection box put up outside the couple's home in White Close, and the lights stayed up until early January.

Mrs Teague said people came every evening to see the magical display. On Christmas Eve the couple served roasted chestnuts and mulled wine on the drive to those who visited.

Thanking the community following the display Mrs Teague said:

"A whopping total of £1,050 was raised. Rob and I wish to thank everyone who came every evening and donated.

"The snow showers along with Santa’s magical house proved a great success with adults and children alike.

"We are also very grateful to Martin Clunes who kindly gave his time to come along for the switch on. Thank you everyone for making this a wonderful success for such a worthwhile cause."

Mrs Teague said Christmas illuminations for this year are already being planned for the last Saturday in November.
