A NEW kebab shop and pizza takeaway has opened its doors near to a holiday park on a busy Weymouth trading estate, bringing with it 15 jobs and more to follow in the summer.

Ottoman Kebab House opened on Monday (January 17) evening on Lynch Lane Trading Estate to the delight of those who favour the flavour of authentic Turkish cooking.

Co-owner Naz Islam said the new takeaway is 'tactically located' on the trading estate because he believes it will allow the business to provide the best delivery option for the whole of Weymouth.

Dorset Echo:

He said: "We opened on Monday and it went very well, but was unexpected because we did a 'soft opening' and did very little advertising.

"We're a confident new business, but we want to start as settled as possible. So far though, it's been very positive.

"It will take a lot of physical work and training, but hopefully we'll been one of the best takeaways in Weymouth.

"The shop is set up to a high standard and very clean, along with an experienced chef. The quality of the product is high end too."

Mr Islam spoke of what unique offerings the new eatery provides.

He added: "We provide a unique taste and we can get to people quicker because it's more centrally located to everyone.

"That's the reason why we chose our location; tactically we can get to people quicker compared to those takeaways based in the town centre.

"Also, we're based next to Littlesea Holiday Park, so we hope become a popular place for those holidaymakers.

"We have large parking areas which makes it easy for people to come collect."

Ottoman Kebab House is located at the former site of Little Sea Fish Bar, which had been expected to become a new car wash. Plans for the car wash development were given the green light from Dorset Council in November last year, despite being met with fierce opposition from locals. Those plans, however, have not materialised and the new food takeaway has opened its doors.

Mr Islam said the business will create 15 jobs in total with a view to hire more in the summer.

He also gave his view on launching a new business during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said: "I think you need a bit of courage because it's a challenging time and it's not going to be easy, but together we can overcome this situation."

The new takeaway is open from 3.30pm to 10.45pm from Monday to Sunday.
