A HEALTH organisation in Dorset is urging women to get a cervical screening as soon as possible.
Public Health Dorset is urging women across the county to have a screening to protect themselves against cervical cancer.
It comes as part of Cervical Cancer Awareness Week (January 17 to January 23), which focuses on raising awareness of cervical screening and provides information and support for those who have been diagnosed with cervical cell changes or HPV after screening.
A spokeswoman from Public Health Dorset, said: "It's really important to go for cervical screenings as it is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer."
Cervical cancer prevention is made through the use of a vaccine for two types of Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide, despite being largely preventable.
