West Bay Discovery Centre is among the finalists in no less than three award categories.

South Lytchett Manor in Dorchester has been named alongside Weymouth's Higher Moor Campsite and Monkton Wyld Holiday Park as finalists in the Camping and Caravan Park of the Year category.

Trustee John West said: “Our small team of manager and volunteers are very excited that once again it looks as though the centre will gain recognition from the award judges for our achievements. We will wait with baited breath for the outcome of the finals."
He added: “We are delighted that once again West Dorset is well represented in finals with visitor accommodation, guides and places to eat and I feel this shows the quality of what is on offer."
The centre, which is run by local charity, the Bridport Area Development Trust, has attracted over 40,000 visitors since it opened in August 2018. It is currently closed but plans to reopen at February half-term.
Amanda Park, Tourism Development Manager of Visit Dorset, said: “We are delighted to support the awards which celebrate the variety and quality of tourism businesses across Dorset and showcase their hard work and achievements! As sponsor of the New Business category it is fantastic to see the industry continue to grow and develop despite the difficulties of the last two years. Congratulations to all the finalists and good luck!”
Awards organizer Robin Barker of Services for Tourism added: “Despite everything that has been thrown at them, the awards once again demonstrate the quality, innovation and resilience of leading tourism businesses. Many Congratulations to you all.”
