Festive swimmers will take the traditional plunge at Charmouth on Christmas Day and Lyme Regis on New Year's Day - but not at West Bay on Boxing Day.

All three swims were cancelled last year due to Covid and regarding this year, the Charmouth event and the Lyme Lunge are on - but the West Bay Wallow has been cancelled due to Covid fears and the Omicron variant.

Christmas Day swimmers are advised to arrive on the beach at Charmouth at least 15 minutes before the start time of 11am (fancy dress optional).

After the dip - which supports the RNLI - participants can claim a free mulled wine from the Royal Oak pub.

Regarding West Bay Wallow, organisers the Round Table said: "It is with great sadness we are having to postpone this year’s Boxing Day swim to 2022. We will be back with a big splash next year when we hope some certainty around Covid and restrictions will mean we will have a clear path to organise the event and be positive we can keep everyone safe.”

The Lyme Lunge, organised by the Rotary Club on the sandy beach, has the green light - starting at 1pm.

Fancy dress is encouraged, and funds raised will support Weldmar Hospicecare and Macmillan Cancer Support.

The New Year's Day dip has become an annual tradition in Lyme Regis with hundreds of hardy souls taking a bracing plunge into the sea dressed in weird and wonderful outfits.
