A BRIDPORT hairdresser said she has been forced to close her salon after 30 years of business.

Danielle Ewert said she will be closing A Step Ahead, in West Street, on New Year's Eve due to the damaging effect of the coronavirus pandemic.

The hair salon is known in the area as a popular destination for wedding preparations, but the owner said she is set to trim her final tress on Friday, December 31.

Ms Ewert said: "To all clients and friends, after much thought and deliberation A Step Ahead will be closing on the 31 December 2021.

"I would like to thank past and present staff for all the hard work over the years.

"A combination of the last two years and its exceptional circumstances have meant loss of staff, which have made the business not viable.

"My own thoughts have turned to retirement, but I would like to say a huge thank you to all our clients who have supported the salon over the last 30 years."
