BRIDPORT boss Rob Marquis has revealed the Bees’ squad will be given the week off ahead of a busy festive schedule.

Bridport, who exited the Dorset Senior Cup 4-0 at the hands of Hamworthy United on Tuesday, do not have a league match this weekend.

Instead of training on Thursday and possible Saturday, Marquis has elected to give his players a rest as the Bees nurse key players back to full fitness.

Bridport resume league action on Saturday, December 18 when Millbrook visit St Mary’s Field.

Speaking to the Bridport News, Marquis said: “I’ll let them have the weekend off.

“We’ve had a Tuesday night game this week and we’ve had a lot of games recently.

“A couple of them have had niggles and will benefit from the rest. We haven’t got plans for getting them in for training on Saturday.

“I may go and watch our reserves or our third team. We’re training Tuesday and not coming in (tonight) because we’ve had a game.

“We’ll have a two-hour session on Tuesday and we’ll pick it up from there.”

Marquis has already turned his attentions to the Millbrook match, adding: “We lost 4-0 down there very early in the season.

“4-0 definitely flattered them but I appreciate that’s rich with the amount of games we’ve lost.

“Three goals were so soft it killed us. They’re down our end of the league and realistically we’ve got to be targeting, if we have any chance of getting out of trouble, getting something out of that game.”

Dan Baggs (knee), Jake Owen (hamstring) and Malakai Stanners are among the players in need of recuperation time.
