A LEADING book and journal manufacturer is the latest in a long list of Dorset companies to back this year’s Christmas Toy Appeal.

Henry Ling Limited, located in Prince of Wales Road in Dorchester, has very generously backed the Dorset Echo’s Christmas Toy Appeal for this year - which is set to raise its greatest total yet.

The Dorchester company is glad to support the cause with a £100 donation, of which every penny goes towards helping to buy toys for children in Dorset who might otherwise go without on Christmas Day.

A spokesperson for Henry Ling said: “We’re glad to join other local businesses in helping children to have the best Christmas possible.”

The company is a leading manufacturer of journals and books who provide a complete service from typesetting to print.

Last year, despite the pandemic, the Dorset Echo’s Christmas Toy Appeal raised its greatest ever amount of £5,432 and thanks to donations like this from Henry Ling this year’s efforts are well on their way to beating that figure.

In 2020 the toy donation boxes were not put out but that is not the case this year with Weymouth Rotary helping to collect the gifts for this year’s appeal.

Debbie Hellaby, Newsquest group promotions manager, said: “Sourcing, collecting and organising the toys for hundreds of children is not an easy task, the toys are usually matched to the age and interest of each child individually.

“We are delighted to accept the support of the Weymouth Rotary Club to facilitate the collection and collation of toys.”

President of Weymouth Rotary Club Jerry Way said: “Weymouth Rotary Club is proud to assist with the Echo’s Toy Appeal for 2021. It’s a fabulous fundraiser benefitting kids in need in our community at Christmas.

"Well done to you all at the Echo, fantastic work."

Toy donations made at the collection points located across the whole of Dorset are set to be collected on Monday December 6 so do not visit a site where a previous donation bin was found because they will no longer be there.
