WYKE residents and those from further afield in Dorset came out in force to attend the iconic Christmas Street Fayre.

Starting from when the bells rang from the All Saints Church at midday, those who went along were treated to a variety of stalls selling local food, drinks, gifts and crafts lined along the streets around Old Wyke Square.

Also on offer was plenty of Christmas songs, raffles, tombolas, some rides for children and even Santa managed to pay a visit across the stalls and inside both the Memorial Hall and Wyke Social Club where exhibitors were found.

A spokesperson for Wyke Christmas Street Fayre said: “Everyone was terribly disappointed that we were not able to hold the fayre last year but are delighted that we are back this year.

“Wyke has been holding it's Christmas Fayre for more than ten years and follows an ancient tradition when the charter for a Christmas Market was awarded by the King hundreds of years ago.”

The event was cancelled last year because of the pandemic and people made sure they came out to support the Street Fayre once again despite many other festive activities taking place on the first weekend of December.
