We visited Bridport to spend some money, but the pay machines in the car park behind Waitrose (Rope Walks short stay) were ALL out of order. People were trying to pay by mobile phone but failing. I have no idea how to pay by mobile.

We were afraid an officious parking attendant would give us a ticket so we came home without spending anything. Very sorry Bridport traders.

* As reported previously in the News, drivers are currently not able to use cash to pay for parking at Dorset Council car parks.

The council said drivers must use cashless payments due to 'ongoing disruption' to many ticket machines across the county.

If a machine is currently unable to accept cash payments, drivers will still need to pay for parking.

This may involve using a phone and will require locating the unique car park identification number.

The council said the problem was due to be fixed in 'early December' - the News is trying to seek a further update on this but as yet as had no response.
