WEYMOUTH boss Brian Stock hinted defensive reinforcements may be needed after the Terras conceded another three goals against Woking.

The 3-2 defeat came after Weymouth shipped four against both Chesterfield and Altrincham – albeit with 10 men.

Weymouth’s defensive record is one of the poorest in the National League, with only Dover and King’s Lynn having conceded more goals.

With the Terras sitting out a bye weekend, their next opportunity to keep a clean sheet comes at home to Torquay United on Saturday, December 4.

However, with the likes of Calvin Brooks and Josef Yarney having left the club, Stock is mindful defensive dealings may need to be made in the player market.

Asked if he was looking to strengthen the defence, Stock told Echosport: “Yeah, obviously conceding three is disappointing.

“There were two games I’d write off given we went down to 10 men so early.

“But it’s an area we need to make sure we’re a little tighter. I thought second half (against Woking) the back three were excellent in terms of on the ball, off the ball.

“We need to make sure we track runs and be accountable for strikers who can run in between us.”

Discussing possible new signings, he added: “We have no fixture but it might be an opportunity to get one or two players in, assess the squad.

“Obviously losing the likes of Calvin leaves us a little bit bare at the back. It’s an area we’re actively looking at.

“We’ll have a look elsewhere and see what else is around because we feel that an injection of a couple of new faces might do the squad good.”

Quizzed on the budget for new players and whether exits may precede incomings, Stock said: “The club are fully supportive with everything, they have been from the moment I came in.

“They did it in January. We might have to take one or two out on loan before we bring one or two in. That might be the case.

“We’ll do our business in private, make sure we do it in the right way and look after the players that are contracted.”
