A route through a Dorset village will close in both directions due to roadworks - with a 18.5-mile diversion in place
Yeovil Road in Halstock, between Bull Bridge Mead and outside Dorset Water Lillies, will be shut for one day on Saturday, December 4.
The 130-metre stretch of road must close in order to safely allow Openreach workers to work on its underground network.
A public notice from Dorset Council reads: “This notice will enable Openreach safe access to lay ducting within the carriageway."
Yeovil Road serves as the main road through the village and an alternative route into Yeovil.
During the road closure, an 18.51-mile diversion route will be in place, which will see motorists travel onto Sutton Hill, A37 and A356.
Alternatively, there are a number of shorter but unofficial routes that drivers can take to avoid the road closure. These are not suitable for HGVs and should be avoided if using larger machinery.
