BRIDPORT face a defensive dilemma when Ilfracombe Town visit St Mary’s Field in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division on Saturday (3pm).

The Bees are without captain Jake Owen and the suspended Dan Baggs, while left-back Malakai Stanners is away on international duty with the British Virgin Islands.

Midfielder Dom McAllister is also suspended however, Bridport are boosted by the return of centre-back Finley Jarvis.

There are further intriguing developments as boss Rob Marquis is set to swoop in for a number of potential new signings, although the manager refused to reveal any names.

Speaking to the Bridport News he said: “We’ll take any positive result, beggars can’t be choosers.

“But we’ve got Dan and Dom suspended, Jake’s out and it’s given me plenty to work on as usual.

“I’ve got Finley available this weekend but Jake Hawker’s not available either – I’ve lost three centre-backs for one game.

“We had new faces at training (Tuesday) night and I’m already on it trying to get players in.

“The reserves haven’t got a game so it will give one or two an opportunity.”

On Ilfracombe, Marquis said: “They weren’t the best team I’ve seen but they are top half and have not lost many.

“This league, a lot of teams have dropped a fair amount of points. It does look pretty much as predicted that there’s no real clear favourites. It’s probably February before you know. They all seem to take points off each other.”
