THE WEEKEND is fast approaching and there is plenty going on across Dorset to keep you busy, as the second week of October draws to a close.
So, if you’re stuck for something to do across the county this weekend the Daily Echo has got you covered with a list of just some of the events and activities taking place in the county.
Weymouth Beach Race
Organised by the Purbeck Motocross Club the Weymouth Beach Race is back for 2021, having been cancelled in 2020 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The event has been running since 1984 and takes place on Sunday October 10. 269 riders will be taking to the beach across three classes of races; with two races for each class. Big crowds are expected for the racing spectacle, which is free to watch with the engines starting at midday for practice.
Dorchester Literary Festival
This weekend sees the start of the Dorchester Literary Festival on Saturday October 9 and continues through to October 16. For the inaugural weekend there will be a workshop from Rachel Bright at the library starting at 10am and then two further events at The Dorford Centre at 2pm and 4pm. Tickets are on sale via this festival’s website or from Waterstones in Dorchester.
Launch Party Weekend
In the north of the county, in Shaftesbury, there is a launch party at the abbey for a new events dome. There will be a series of events taking place over both Saturday and Sunday. Events kick off at 10am on Saturday with a kids tye dye workshop followed by a pop-up tea party and a launch party at 4pm. On Sunday there will also be two further pop-up parties.
