DORSET fire services have updated their eyesight requirements and are encouraging anyone who hasn't applied previously, or perhaps failed mid-process, because of their sight to get in touch.
In a statement Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Services (DWFRS) confirmed that the update in conditions was to standardise them.

A DWFRS spokesperson said: “We’ve standardised our requirements, but it’s too complicated to explain the various nuances, hence why we are just encouraging people who have perhaps failed on this point in the past to see whether the changes are to their advantage.

“They would know what specific area had been an issue for them previously.”
Those who become on-call firefighters have to pass a mandatory eyesight test and medical examination to ensure they meet the required standards, before being accepted into a role.
