FIREFIGHTERS have issued advice after being alerted to two emergencies in the Bridport area within a few hours.

A car with its brakes on fire prompted a call to the brigade on Saturday night.

A crew was alerted to Dottery Road (B3162) at 8.30pm and used a hose to cool the brakes while monitoring the with a thermal imaging camera. They then moved the vehicle off the road.

Earlier in the evening a crew was alerted to an alarm sounding at a property.

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "You are more than twice as likely to die in a fire at home if you haven’t got a working smoke alarm.
