POLICE are urging the public to be wary of cuckooing signs.
Cuckooing is the practice of taking over the home of a vulnerable person in order to establish a base for illegal drug dealing - typically as part of a county lines operation.
The warning comes after a huge police presence descended on Weymouth Train Station on August 25 as British Transport Police (BTP) ramped up an enhanced operation targeting County Lines activity across the south west region.
A spokesman from Dorset Police said: "Drug dealers sometimes set up shop in the home of a vulnerable person in a small rural or coastal town. This is called cuckooing.
"If you think this is happening to one of your neighbours please report it to us using our non-emergency channels such as www.dorset.police.uk/do-it-online."
