THIS year's winners of the Bridport News Child Of The Year competition have been announced.

Judges selected a winner from each category after the entrants appeared in the paper.

There were three winners over the three categories of newborns to nine months, 19 to 36 months and three to six years old.

Each of the winners will received a prize in the form of a £50 voucher.

Five month old Blake Ollis from Skilling was the winner of the newborn to nine months category.

His mother, Eleanor, said: "It's fantastic that Blake won. We entered him into the competition on an off chance and it was a bit of a shock.

"He's a brilliant baby, he's been absolutely fantastic. He's just learned how to roll over so that's his latest trick. He's on the move a lot, you can't leave him for two seconds.

"We've got a memory box for him so we'll be keeping the paper to show him the pictures when he's older."

Frankie Aurora Hayes, from Beaminster, won the 19 to 36 months category.

Her mother, Christiana, said: "Frankie wanted to buy something she saw on the television and we said if you enter and win you can use the money however you want.

"It was a nice thing to do and she was really chuffed. And she managed to buy her new toy.

"She's loved being able to tell all of her friends. She was adamant she was going to get her picture taken with a chicken and she's looking forward to seeing that picture in the paper."

Ruby Poole from Beaminster won the three to six year old category.

Her mother, Amy, said: "We were really pleased, she was really excited. I mentioned it to her and she was very happy that she was in the competition.

"I told her she was the winner and she was thrilled and has been telling everyone she can that she's won."
