A 'THOUGHT-PROVOKING' exhibition focusing on climate change is going ahead alongside an international arts festival returning to Dorset this week.
'Climate Change: An Open Exhibition' is going ahead at the Sou’-Sou’-West Arts Gallery over the next two weeks.
The exhibition began on Saturday, September 11 and will continue until Wednesday, September 27 from 10.30am to 4.30pm daily.
Artists have been encouraged to reflect environmental protection in their work, by using upcycled or recycled media, celebrating the importance of the natural world or demonstrating the impact, both positive and negative, that humanity has on the planet.
The exhibition features a diverse range of artworks, from Anya Beaumont’s brightly coloured and intricately cut sculptures using found and upcycled plastics, to Jan Edwards’ installation of over 300 suspended seaweed and paper models entitled ‘Invasive Species’.
Meanwhile, the gallery courtyard will be home to Pete Hackett’s ‘Detritusaurus’, a comment on the state of the planet's seas, and the human approach to waste and the consequences.
