AN AWARD-WINNING film starring a west Dorset actor will be shown for the first time this week - at a cinema in the county.

James Osborne, from Corscombe, is one of the stars of Lucas and Albert, which won the award for Best Feature Film at the 2021 National Film Awards.

The British gangster film, will be screened to the public for the first time at the Rex Cinema in Wareham from Friday, September 17 until Monday, September 20.

The story follows two ageing hitmen, the titular Lucas and Albert, played by Mr Osborne and his childhood friend, A.G.Longhurst, who are sent to clean up a bank robbery that went wrong before they can hang up their guns for good.

The dark comedy thriller, also starring John Altman - 'Nasty' Nick Cotton in EastEnders - was up against such blockbusters as Oscar nominee 1917 and Dwayne Johnson's Fighting With My Family.
