FEWER than 250 new coronavirus cases have been recorded across Dorset, according to the latest statistics.

The latest Government figures show 240 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Tuesday, August 31.

106 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the Dorset Council area. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 21,480 cases confirmed across this area.

In the latest rolling seven-day period, the Dorset Council area recorded 1,141 cases, with a case rate of 300.4per 100,000 people.

There has been 134 new cases recorded across the Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council area, taking the total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 41,264.

The rolling seven-day period for the BCP area is 1,290 cases, with a case rate of 324.9 per 100,000 people.

During the course of the coronavirus pandemic, 62,744 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed across Dorset.

Elsewhere, the New Forest area recorded 43 new coronavirus cases. The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic stands within the New Forest at 10,518.

The seven-day total for New Forest is 396 with a case rate of 220.4 per 100,000 people.
