AN 'Oktoberfest' style event looks set to come to Bridport this autumn.

The Bridport Round Table is bringing rock music and 'great beers' to the table this October, with Rocktoberfest.

The event is set to take place on Friday, October 1 and Saturday, October 2 and will be the first major fundraiser the round table has put on since summer 2019.

Whilst there will be a more limited selection of beer than you might see at Bridport Round Table's annual beer festival, the event will put a major emphasis on music and revelry.

A spokesman for Bridport Round Table said: "We think the town is desperate for an event like this. So we have bitten the bullet and are going for our first ‘big’ fundraiser since 2019, an Oktoberfest-styled event in Bridport, with rock music and great beers.

"Our sincere wish is that we are able to continue to support urgent local requests and all the good causes that we are known for helping, and with just seven weeks to pull this together - and significant set up costs - we urgently need the support of the public.

"We understand this has been a very hard 18 months for us all, but we thank you in advance for your generosity and if you feel you can support us in another way please do get in contact."

As a result of the lack of fundraising since the start of the pandemic, the round table is asking for the support of local businesses to kickstart the funding of Rocktoberfest.

All of the profits from the event will go back into the town, supporting local causes.

Sponsorship for the event has been split into four categories: 'Rock Master' would be the main sponsor of the event at £1,500, with full logo coverage on tokens, marketing, event information and entry for 20 people. The 'Platinum Record' category would see an organisation donate £1,000 and sponsor the music on one of the evenings. With an advertising banner up when the bands play, marketing material and entry for 10 people. For £500 businesses can enter the 'Top Drummer' category, limited to six sponsors who will receive coverage around the infrastructure of the event, banners on the external of the marquee, entrances, marketing material and entry for four people. The 'Band Groupie' category will see businesses sponsor a barrel of lager, cider or ale, its logo on display above the bar and entry for two people.
