A WOMAN has been given a restraining order after threatening a mum-of-one with a baseball bat in a 'nightmare neighbour' clash.
Weymouth Magistrates Court heard how Cielidgh Olivia Jayne Reece threatened another woman outside her home in Pitchers, Salwayash.
The court heard how the dispute started after 23-year-old Reece, who was eight months pregnant at the time, posted a letter through her neighbour's letterbox complaining about the noise from a child and a dog.
Andrew Newman, prosecuting,: "This was a neighbour dispute, involving the victim, who has a young daughter.
"The defendant originally posted a note to the victim and said her child was making too much noise during the day and into the night.
"Reece also threatened to contact the RSPCA because the victim's dog was apparently barking during the night. She told the victim ‘you are being a nightmare neighbour’.
"The defendant said, due to the stress, she had not eaten for four days."
He added: "The victim does not agree with the accusations. The victim said her child goes to bed on time and her dog is not loud.
"She went to Reece’s house and confronted her. Reece came to the door with a baseball bat and said ‘I will knock your head off’."
A statement from the victim read out in court said: "I feel intimidated in my own home and I’m scared to go onto the street."
Reece, who was unrepresented, apologised for her actions. She admitted using threatening/ abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
She said: "I’m very sorry. I was going through a hard time in my life.
"At that time I was eight months pregnant.
"There’s no excuses for my actions."
Chairman of the bench, Robert Ford told Reece: "You have anger issues and it’s unacceptable to use a baseball bat as a threatening weapon.
"You have to start taking responsibility for your actions.
“We’re issuing a restraining order, which will stop you from having any contact with the victim.
“If you see her in the street, turn around and walk the other way.”
Reece was given a 12-month conditional discharge with a one-year restraining order.
She will also pay a victim surcharge of £22 and court costs of £85.
