A BUSY route through Dorset experienced delays after a lorry was unable to access a McDonald's car park due to 'incorrectly parked vehicles'.

Bridport Road, near the A35 Monkey’s Jump roundabout, saw heavy traffic after 12pm on Monday afternoon (August 23) as a McDonald's branded lorry attempted to reverse into the car park.

The lorry, which was delivering food to the fast-food branch, struggled to manoeuvre into the car park after a 'small number of incorrectly parked vehicles' made it difficult to enter the site.

The vehicles were eventually moved, as a staff member guided the lorry into the car park to unload its delivery.

A witness, who asked not to be named, said it took him 15 minutes to travel from the Poundbury junction of Monkey's Jump Roundabout to get onto the A35 towards Martinstown.

He said: "There was traffic blocked right the way around the roundabout with two lanes trying to get into the junction.

"The A35 was at a standstill in both directions.

"When I finally managed to access the road, there was a McDonald's lorry trying to reverse into the entrance."

A spokesman for McDonald's said: “Our car park was inaccessible for a short while on Monday due to a small number of incorrectly parked vehicles.

"Our team acted swiftly in identifying the drivers of these vehicles and asked them to move, allowing our delivery vehicle to successfully manoeuvre into our car park.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
