A WOMAN was taken to hospital following a crash this morning.

The car was flipped and on its roof as a result of the crash and firefighters and ambulance teams were at the scene on the A356 Dorchester Road in Maiden Newton at around 9.30am this morning.

Crews from Dorchester Fire Station and Beaminster Fire Station attended the incident. The woman was removed from the car and taken to hospital by the ambulance team.

The crash occurred near the Chalk and Cheese pub in Maiden Newton and the road was partially blocked for a period of time, leading to heavy traffic in the area.

A spokesman from the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said: "Crews from Dorchester and Beaminster were mobilised to a single vehicle road traffic collision in Maiden Newton.

"One casualty was released from the vehicle with assistance from ambulance personnel."
