A TALK will be held in a west Dorset village this weekend on a newly released book about a pioneering woman who introduced a vaccine against a lethal disease in the 18th century.
The book, written by Powerstock resident Jo Willet, focuses on the life and times of Mary Wortley Montagu who introduced the inoculation against Smallpox into in 1721.
Mrs Willett will be giving a talk on the book, entitled, 'The Pioneering Life of Mary Wortley Montagu: Scientist and Feminist' at the Powerstock Hut on Saturday, August 21.
The talk is taking place in the hut at 3pm, with entry from 2.30pm. Tickets cost £8 on the door and include a cream tea.
Parking is available on site and there is disabled access for those who need it.
