MODEL railway enthusiasts enjoyed an open day at West Bay.

The Bridport and District Model Railway Club returned to some sort of normality when members hosted a club open day on Sunday, August 8 at the Old Salthouse in West Bay.

Visitors were able to view a variety of layouts by club member. Several members of the public brought items of their own stock to be checked and test run whilst others had some items for minor repairs which were carried out with assistance from club members.

The visitors were able to join the members to enjoy the trains throughout the day with exhibits such as ‘West Bay’ which is the Club’s new exhibition layout and ‘Green Frog Brewery’ a club layout where visitors were able to test themselves on railway shunting skills.

Covid measures were in place with doors open for fresh air and hand sanitiser available.

During the day many of the visitors, both local and those coming from as far afield as Yorkshire and the Midlands, remarked on how much they had enjoyed the day.

The club’s next exhibition is to be held in Beaminster on Saturday, January 15 2022 at the Public Hall in Fleet Street.
