CHILDREN are being invited to experience life on the farm at an event later this month.
With the Melplash Agricultural Society's flagship event, the Melplash Show, cancelled this year the society is putting on a series of events throughout the summer.
The next is the Discover Farming event which will take place on Thursday, August 26. The event will see children under the age of 12 invited to Vurlands Animal Farm in Swyre to learn more about farming with a number of activities on offer including driving a radio-controlled tractor around the farm, taking a virtual dairy farm tour, building a small barn, juicing apples to make smoothies, making butter and even helping with calving a cow.
Society director, George Streatfeild, said: “We will be building on the success of the Melplash Show’s popular Discover Farming marquee – a must visit for all families who are interested in learning more about food production and farming.
"There will be lots of activities and interactive demonstrations where children of all ages can get hands on experience of a variety of farm to food activities."
Admission will be free to children and £2 for adults. Tickets must be booked prior to attending at www.melplashshow.co.uk.
