The number of coronavirus cases in Dorset increased by 303 in the last 24 hours, official figures show.

A total of 17,861 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 in the Dorset Council area when the Government's UK coronavirus daily dashboard was updated on August 10 (Tuesday), up from 17,748 on Monday.

It means that in the Dorset Council area 113 cases have been confirmed.

Meanwhile the number of coronavirus cases in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole increased by 190 in the same time period - bringing the total to 36,870, up from 36,680 on Monday.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 23,297 over the period, to 6,117,540.

The figures also show that four in five people in the Dorset Council area have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, while two-thirds of people in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole have had both jabs.

According to the data, 265,177 people in the Dorset Council area had received both doses by August 9 (Monday) – 80 per cent of those aged 18 and over, based on the number of people on the National Immunisation Management Service database.

In Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole, the number of people to have had both jabs stood at 241,075 by the same date – representing a comparatively lower 68 per cent of adults aged over 18.

Across England, 75 per cent of people aged 18 and above had received a second dose of the jab.
