A YELLOW weather warning has been issued for heavy showers, torrential downpours and thunderstorms may cause travel disruption and some flooding.
The Met Office issued a yellow warning for torrential downpours and thunderstorms just after 9.30am today until 11pm.
Homes and businesses have been warned there may be disruption to travel today and this evening with possible delays to public transport.
The Met Office has said there is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
A spokesman for the weather forecaster said: "There's a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly - with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there's a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.
"Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
"There's a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."
