A RAINBOW was sighted from West Bay as wind and waves battered the shores.

The sun has shined through in spells amidst a very windy day in west Dorset.

A weather warning is currently in place across the South West as Storm Evert gathers pace, with winds of up to 55mph expected to hit the county.

This picture was taken at around 10am this morning, at a dry yet 'incredibly windy' West Bay of the raindbow appearing to be over the Lyme Regis area.

Mike Martin, who took the photograph, said: "There were plenty of waves coming over the pier and promenade this morning.

"It was more like February than July!"

According to the Met Office, there will be strong winds throughout Friday morning, before decreasing into the afternoon.

Travel Dorset warned residents to ‘take care out and about today’ and report any flooding or fallen trees to them.
